Yoga Classes

Physically and mentally prepare for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum in the way that works best for YOU – alongside a community that has your back!

Yoga days are my favorite days.

Why? Because not only do I love teaching what I know, but I love watching you build lasting, supportive friendships in class, too!

These aren’t your generic, everyday yoga classes, either – they’re specifically tailored to you. At the beginning of each class, we’ll chat about the current state of our bodies and minds. But don’t worry – we go by Las Vegas rules here: what’s said in class stays in class.

From there, I adapt the movements to meet the needs of each participant. That way, whether you’re craving a gentle, mindful yoga class or a challenging labor prep, you get what you need.

Schedule

All classes are held remotely on Zoom, which means there’s no pressure to find a sitter, brave the weather, or even brush your hair.

Just bring yourself, your mat, your laptop/phone/tablet, the suggested props (which you’ll find in the description for each class below), and come hang out with me and a class full of people who are excited to welcome you.

(Looking for in-person yoga? Check out the schedule at Whole Heart Space and meet me on your mat there!)

Class Descriptions

Prenatal + Postpartum Yoga

This class is recommended for people in all stages of pregnancy or those who have stopped bleeding postpartum and are ready to return to exercise or slightly more vigorous movement.

Through the physical postures of yoga, breathwork, and relaxing meditation, we’ll prepare your body and mind to bring your baby into the world in whichever way you choose.

We begin each class with a conversation about the current state of our bodies and then tailor the movements and practice to meet the needs of each participant. Your experience can be gentle or challenging, depending on what best suits you.

The greatest part of these classes is not just the movement or meditations (though those are also fantastic during pregnancy and the postpartum period), it’s the community we build week after week. Participants become so much more than just classmates – they become friends and trusted members of each other’s support teams. Plus, you don’t have to give up this community after your baby is born.

Note: It’s never too soon to start coming to prenatal yoga. In fact, you are welcome to join even if you’re trying to conceive! And because this class is appropriate for both pregnant and postpartum bodies, you can continue your practice in a space that’s designed to help you heal and recover safely.

Suggested props include two blocks, a bolster or pillows, and blankets. If you do not have those, you may be able to use large books and throw blankets.

Recovery Yoga

This class is for those who have given birth within the last 2-12 weeks.

Because I came to the birth world from the fitness world, I know lots of people who struggle with the idea of not doing anything immediately postpartum. I also know that the first few weeks after birth can be some of the most isolating and being removed from your community can be extra hard.

This class focuses heavily on community. We’ll start by sharing wins and challenges from each week. Then we’ll move on to breath work, gently reengaging our pelvic floors, and stretching any tired or aching muscles that come from having a newborn.

Yoga Flow

A vinyasa flow class for all levels. **NOTE: This class is not appropriate for pregnant or newly postpartum bodies.**

Learn how to move with your breath and release daily stress while also stretching and strengthening your body.

This class focuses on creative flow sequences and offers both beginner and more challenging options for intermediate to advanced level participants.

Suggested props include blocks and blankets. If you do not have those, you may be able to use large books and throw blankets.

Love note:

Since I was pregnant in the middle of this pandemic -

“I felt like I was really mourning: I wasn’t able to go shopping with my mom or do all of the “normal” things I could be doing. I felt really isolated. So when I joined Katie’s prenatal yoga class, the biggest thing for me was the sense of support and community. Here were all these other moms on a similar path! It was the first time I truly felt excited during my pregnancy, because I finally had that sense of community.

I was actually a little skeptical of yoga in the beginning, because in traditional yoga, the class isn’t catered to you. With Katie, it was the opposite – she would modify movements based on what I needed. If I had an ache, we’d tackle it in the class. It felt great knowing that I didn’t have to worry about following every movement perfectly.

Plus, it’s so much more than just a yoga class – you can ask Katie anything about pregnancy and birth. She’s just so knowledgeable! Everyone should know about Katie.”
